Buren is perhaps one of the more famous makers of Chronograph watches that most people have not heard of. Buren was mostly responsible for development of the first self-winding or automatic Chronograph movement, working with Heuer, Bulova, Hamilton and Breitling, all names I am sure you recognize. The result was the micro-rotor Chronograph movement used in watches from these manufacturers but the base movement is still referred to as a Buren.
Long before the automatic chronograph, there was this beauty. With its attractive satin coloured dial and unusual configuration of chronograph registers at the top and bottom of the dial. This pattern is similar to older regulator clock and pocket watches. The Arabic numerals on the dial are printed in an Art Deco style and the combination of 3 colour text on the dial is another desirable element to the watch.
The all stainless steel case is in excellent condition with the square chrono pushers showing some tarnish to the chrome plating. Inside the case is fully signed Buren Watch Co Swiss and the 17 jewel movement is also signed Buren.
The watch was just serviced by my watchmaker and is keeping excellent time as well as functioning flawlessly.
The case is the perfect size to be worn by a man looking for a subtle watch with style or a woman looking for a sporty statement piece. The case measures 32 mm wide by 39 mm long. Buyers have the choice of a black or brown leather strap.
