Anytime you find a genuine Military issued timepiece its something special. Finding a military issued pilots chronograph is something all together more rewarding.
This Royal Canadian Air Force issued chronograph dates to the 1960’s based on the anecdotal evidence gathered from talking to a number of RCAF personal over the years.
The watch is made by Rodania under contract to the RCAF. The dial features the iconic layout specified by the Canadian Air Force and utilized by any supplier including Omega and Breitling.
The watch uses a Venus 175 dual register movement. The single pusher starts, stops and resets the sweeping seconds counter as well as the 30 minute totalizer.
The watch carries a RCAF Contract number or 6W/16 as well as a unique quarter master issue number.
Its actually interesting that this watch as is sits is identical to the Breitling model supplied to the RCAF other than the case back in not stamped Breitling Watch Co.
The watch was just serviced and is functioning flawlessly. The stainless steel case measures 36 mm wide by 44 mm long.
