Vintage Rolex GMT 1675 in solid stainless steel with red and blue Pepsi bezel. This vintage Rolex dates to 1978 and has all the allure you would expect from a Rolex tool watch from this era.
The watch features a matte black dial with parchment toned and aged original luminous markers with matching hands. As many know the vintage Rolex GMT features a 4th rotating hand that indicates the time in 24 hour graduations. Many have asked “how do you use the GMT function?”. This model of Rolex GMT features a rotating bezel. The 24 hour hand is not adjustable, it moves when you set the main hour and minute hands. You can set the rotating bezel to indicate the time in another timezone by lining up the current time back in your native timezone or in a destination you are visiting.
This watch is fitted with the original Rolex calibre 1575 automatic Perpetual movement.
This is where things get interesting. Everyone wants an unpolished case and its almost impossible to prove unless you are buying from the original owner and if they are telling the truth. Usually watches serviced since the 1970’s have been polished. It was not a concern when these watches were recent vintage. The surprise with this watch is that there are no service marks in the case back. The watch runs well but I cannot see any signs of servicing in it and the case certainly does not look polished with its thick fat lugs. Its a collectors dream. If the buyer chooses, I can have the watch serviced through my Rolex trained watchmaker at an additional cost, naturally without polishing also. If you have looked at the attached photos you will also note the original fat font bezel with the fat “8” numeric font. If you do not have this original bezel on your GMT you know what it costs to replace this part alone.
Perhaps I should offer the bezel to the owner of this Rolex GMT coming up for auction
The original Rolex Oyster crown still screws done tightly to the case tube. An original Rolex Acrylic crystal is the correct low dome model. It features a magnified date bubble window at the 3 o’clock position. This watch is also supplied on a genuine Rolex Oyster 78360 heavy link bracelet with Rolex 501 end pieces.
Overall, this Vintage Rolex 1675 GMT with Pepsi red/blue bezel insert is one of the most desirable vintage Rolex watches on the collector market today.
