This used Rolex Submariner, model 5513, dates to 1970.
This vintage Submariner uses the matte black dial with bare tritium luminous markers as opposed to the later models, which used a glossy dial with white gold surrounds to outline the luminous dial markers.
The Rolex Submariner 5513 was the replacement for the 5512 and the earlier 5508. This model features a Rolex automatic or Perpetual 25 jewel movement, calibre 1520. The base calibre for all of the movements used in Rolex automatic watches from 1957 till the end of the 1980’s. The calibre 1520 was eventually retired in 1990 when Rolex brought out the Submariner 14060 which used a calibre 3000 movement.
The movement was recently serviced by my Rolex trained watchmaker and is keeping excellent time.
The all original dial and hands are in excellent condition with gentle warming of the luminous markers and hands. The luminous appears to cream coloured and is 100% original.
The case is in excellent condition. While I never guarantee water resistance on a vintage watch, my watchmaker changed all the seals and did test it for water resistance, which it passed. The watch was originally depth rated for 660 feet or 200 metres.
Please note the original Rolex triplock crown attached to the watch. The watch features a domed acrylic crystal found on the older vintage Rolex’s and adds to the charm of the watch. The Submariner is fitted with a heavy belting leather strap however an original Rolex Oyster bracelet can be supplied, please email for a quote. The case of this watch measures 40mm wide and 48mm long from lug tip to lug tip.
