Stunning vintage Omega bumper automatic circa 1953. All original black dial signed Omega and Automatic. The dial also features a gold-tone metal applied Omega logo.
The original black dial also features gold Arabic numerals at the quadrants in what we now commonly call the explorer style.
This watch has a US made 14K gold capped case made by the contract case supplier Ross. Many Omega collectors are aware that Omega was importing raw movements in the 1950’s and 1960’s. They used American companies to supply cases and assembled them in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The process of assembly in the United States was to avoid relatively high tariffs used to protect the US watchmaking industry.
This particular case has the sought after fat, chunky drooping lugs. The gold capping is in excellent condition The case back is signed Omega Watch Company, Ross and 14K gold filled. The case back is a screw back design with aides in shielding it from moisture.
The watch is fitted with a high grade bumper automatic Omega calibre 354 movement. The watch was just serviced by my watchmaker and is functioning flawlessly.
The watch measures 34.5mm wide and is supplied on a black leather strap.
