One of the more unusual vintage chronographs from the Omega Watch Company.
The Chronostop was introduced by Omega following the announcement of its status of Official Timer of the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.
This over-sized sports watch, has a black dial with inner rotating bezel. The single pusher on the upper right side starts the single sweep hand with the first push. A subsequent activation stops the hand and resets it when released.
The watch was ideal for timing sporting events where time splits were critical and most unusual of all, for timing out television commercial breaks.
The black pie-pan shaped dial has some slight patina which on a black dial is very difficult to see and even difficult o photograph but mentioned here for full disclosure.
The watch is fitted with a manual wind Omega calibre 865 movement which is keeping excellent time and functions flawlessly. Please note the original and signed Omega crown and crystal.
The stainless steel case of this Seamaster Chronostop model, measures 41mm wide and 48 mm long. The watch comes on a high grade brown calf leather strap.
