This vintage Omega wrist-watch is like brand new old stock, dating to 1958. The case and movement are like new.
The dial appears to have patinaed from sitting in store window for a prolonged period and thus the patina is very even across the entire range of the 2 tone dial with Explorer pattern 3, 6, 9 and 12 Arabic numerals. The other hour indicators are narrow arrowhead markers.
The watch features a solid 18 karat pink gold case that is fully hallmarked and stamped Omega and Swiss Made. Many of the pink gold cases in the market are unmarked South American made cases. The case reference number is 2898 sc.
From the profile view please note the beefy semi tear-drop shaped lugs.
The 20 jewel automatic Omega calibre 501 movement has just been serviced and is keeping excellent time. The watchmaker commented that the watch is new and had never been serviced prior to his recent oiling and cleaning.
At 34.5 mm wide by 41 mm long this is one of the full-sized cases that Omega made and is the same size as the Constellations and Seamasters of the period..
