A highly sought after vintage Rolex model, the Rolex Prince given as a presentation gift to employees who had worked for the Canadian department store for 25 years.
This watch features a highly unusual case with scrolled lugs, which is a variation of the rare “ram’s head” case shape. The most common version of the 1/4 Century Prince, is the flared case shape.
The 18 jewel Rolex rectangular movement found in this watch is the last Prince movement, calibre 300 made by Rolex. This watch was considered to be the pinnacle of its horological achievement during its production.
The watch has been sitting in a drawer for over 30 years and needed to be completely overhauled by my Rolex trained watchmaker and now it runs as it did when it left the factory.
The original Eaton’s 1/4 Century dial is in excellent condition with only the slightest patina in the top right corner, which is mostly due to the paint’s reaction to the solid silver blank which is painted and then the original hard enamel lettering was applied over the painted finish.
This crisp vintage collectible, is supplied on a new dark brown crocodile strap. The case measures 22 mm wide by 46 mm long.
