A hard to find Rolex Explorer Date with the reference number 5700. This is the same reference number used by the Rolex Air King Date.
This watch is based on the Air King model but with one significant difference. The regular Air King used the no date Rolex calibre 1530 or 1520 movement. These were fitted with the only date equipped non-chronometer automatic movements made by Rolex.
The all original dial is white with narrow arrowhead markers. The alpha shaped hands are a true throwback to the elements of style included on watches from the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.
The watch dates to 1960 based on the date code on the inside of the case back. Also supplied with the watch are the original vintage red leather box and warranty papers.
As was common during the 1950s and 1960s the selling dealer wrote what appears to be the catalog number of the Rolex Explorer Date on the warranty instead of the serial number.
The watch was just serviced by my Rolex trained watchmaker. I have installed a dark brown leather strap but can also supply the watch on a black strap if the buyer prefers.
The case measures 34.5 mm wide by 42 mm long.
